A Collect for Compassion

Gentle healer, who sees the needs of your people and responds in love, you know what it is to be tired and worn by this world, yet you still look upon us with compassion and act for our good. Give us eyes that look upon the needy with compassion as well, that we would give of ourselves in love, as you do and have always done, through you who lives with the Father and Holy Spirit in perfect love. Amen.

'Now when Jesus heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat to a deserted place by himself. But when the crowds heard it, they followed him on foot from the towns. When he went ashore, he saw a great crowd; and he had compassion for them and cured their sick.' - Matthew 14:13-14
