A Collect to Endure the Difficulty of Becoming Holy

Gracious Lord, whose words and touch are full of compassion, being made clean and holy is not always a smooth process. Give us courage to endure the convulsions of our souls as we are made pure, and grant patience as we expel the sin from our hearts, that we would not resist your work, but reach ever greater holiness and become like you, made perfect in love, through you, our Lord and Savior. Amen. ‘But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be silent, and come out of him!” And the unclean spirit, convulsing him and crying with a loud voice, came out of him.’ – Mark 1:25-26
