A Lenten Collect to See Jesus in Glory

Glorious Lord, who appeared to your disciples in dazzling light, let us not forget your glory and holiness, the immenseness of your power, that even as we are embraced by your love, we will always remain awed by your majesty and willingness to reach down to we who need your provision, through you who reigns with the Father and Holy Spirit in glory forever. Amen. ‘Six days later, Jesus took with him Peter and James and John, and led them up a high mountain apart, by themselves. And he was transfigured before them, and his clothes became dazzling white, such as no one on earth could bleach them.’ – Mark 9:2-3 When you think of Jesus, what image of him comes to mind? Is he the one taking the children into his arms to bless them? The warrior with the sword coming from his mouth? The pure white, transfigured being of light on the mountain? The helpless baby in the feeding trough? Can you hold all of these together as one person? Is there an image that you struggle with? How is Jesus inviting you to see him right now?
